Vicenç and Ignasi Prunés starred a piano concert entitled Bach’s Italian dream. A piano in family. Vicenç Prunés is a professor at Escolania and his son Ignasi, also a pianist, trained in the children’s choir of Montserrat. The two of them, father and son, demonstrated their talent separately and together, playing works by Bach and Busoni. The centerpiece, Concert for organ in D minor according to Vivaldi BWV 596, performed four-handed.
Johann Sebastian Bach knew well and appreciated the Italian music of his time. The program presented three related moments: Bach composing in Italian style, Bach adapting Vivaldi, and the virtuous pianist Busoni transforming Bach’s dense music into burning beauty spirals.
