Musicologist and essayist Oriol Pérez Treviño started a series of three sessions untitled Inspiration / Divinity, in order to deepen the musical inspiration that comes from an experience of the divine. In the first hearing he approached us to check how Bach’s music was the reference to Mendelssohn for the mission to bring God to men with musical creation. As a specialist on the subject, Pérez combined hearing fragments of the St. Matthew Passion by JS Bach and Felix Mendelssohn’sElijah with very appropriate comments, and encouraged the large audience to meditate some parts.
